New Website Previews

Posted July 2nd, 2012 in Branding, Marketing Campaigns, Websites by Kathryn Awe

Working lately on my new website designs. It’s been fun – the colors, fonts, images … everything is making me happy (so it makes sense I chose the name I did) and it should, right? The more I work on it, the more real it’s becoming. My goal is to have these sites go live by the end of the month as well as have business cards and some postcards ordered (and a few other things for my face painting venture like a vinyl banner – can’t wait for that).

I started with a quick hand-drawn sketch of BeeHappyDesigns.com which isn’t really even clean enough to post here but it worked for my brainstorming purposes. Made a few minor changes from that to this digitized version as I researched the functionality of what I want to do. I am using Illustrator for these mock-ups and I really like the clean, bright look that software and vector images offer. The plan is to make these sites responsive so they can be viewed on multiple different devices – something I am not as experienced with in web coding but I will learn. I’m keeping the same basic structure for BeeHappyFaces.com but changing up the colors a bit and I want to have a grid of rotating pictures (in place of a carousel) with different images of my work and also text slides of the different things I can paint or venues I have worked. I’m debating keeping to just one blog between the two sites for simplicity’s sake. My first plans were to develop these two businesses separately but the more I do, the more I am realizing they can be more of a c0-brand of each other. They are both creative art services so, why not? And, I want all my design clients to know I face paint and all my face paint clients to know I design… I can get cross business! Now to pull these into Dreamweaver to fine tune…

MN to Maui

Posted April 19th, 2011 in Branding, Logos, Marketing Campaigns by Kathryn Awe

A logo design for a real estate agent who is marketing a free week stay at her condo in Maui as an incentive for prospective buyers to use her services. The goal was to emphasize that aspect of her marketing strategy to help stand out from other agents. Bright colors and common iconography of Minnesota and Maui were used to further drive the concept. You can find more development details of this project including additional design concepts on my behance.net portfolio.

John Squier Postcard Series

Posted February 14th, 2011 in Marketing Campaigns by Kathryn Awe

Real Estate Marketing Postcard Series. Originally designed to be a 12 month campaign, the client expanded to over 15 months because of the positive feedback he was getting from the postcards. The back advertised photos of featured monthly listings along with their list price. This was an effective way to include snapshot useful information along with the eye-catching graphic and message on the front of the card.

Belissimo Branding

Business Cards, Note Cards, Envelopes, Brochure, Gift Certificates, and Postcard Series. An upscale hair and beauty salon looking for clean and elegant graphics for their advertising. While I did not design the logo, I was the designer for the layout of these products. The client requested to use a metallic spot color for the copper areas which required a 5 color setup. The end result was very high class.

Tillou Financial Group

Posted February 7th, 2011 in Branding, Logos, Marketing Campaigns by Kathryn Awe

Logo and Branding for Financial Group. Logo was designed followed by Business Cards, Stationary, Postcards. The client wanted a logo that was professional , clean and conservative but with a bit of 3-d qualities to it. The blue bar with orange accent was added later in the business card but then also incorporated into the final logo since the client liked it so much. The blue bar did serve to add a more weighty and therefore more “permanent” feel to the logo and carries over well into the other marketing.

Santa Tom

Even Santa needs a calling card! What a fun project this was; Business Cards and a Postcard. Santa Tom as he is known in the Santa community needed a way to market his persona and provide an easy way for potential clients to contact him. Featuring the photos of the children and also highlighting his authentic Santa appearance was very important – no fake beard here!

Kissing 2 Lips Branding

Posted February 6th, 2011 in Branding, Logos, Marketing Campaigns by Kathryn Awe

Logo Design, Business Cards, Arrangement Tags, Pricetags, Note Pads, and Grand Opening Postcard for a Florist Shop. Logo was designed in Illustrator, using a sketch supplied by the client. I imported the sketch and hand traced with the bezier tool. The client wanted the flower petals to be shaded somewhat realistically so the gradient mesh tool was the best option for this. The client also requested to use the Monotype Corsiva font. The Arrangement Tags were printed on uncoated paper to allow the floral arranger to sign their own name. Care instructions were printed on the back. The pricetags were hole drilled in the upper left corner to allow a ribbon to be tied around the tag and product. The logo has also been used in large format for the store sign, posters, and auto decal as well as on t-shirts, and 2 color metallic labels. The client was extremely pleased with the finished products and the versatility of the logo itself.
